Ok, we know what it is now: Google Wave: http://is.gd/IeWY

The end of the world! Nope? How about TechCrunch is getting sold/bought?
  • dave · 7 months ago
Someone suggested Google Web Drive. I would love to have that, esp if it has a nice API and isn't too limited.
  • nimish@workosaur · 7 months ago
    Maybe, it's the Crunchpad.
  • dave · 7 months ago
Yeah uh okay, hmm, not sure. Welllll... :-)
  • nimish@workosaur · 7 months ago
Oops, I didn't quite realize that he was at Google I/O.

How Microsoft will spend its recently raised capital?
  • guruvan · 7 months ago
The web drive would be very cool to have, but it would be way bigger news to see an announcement from MSFT.

Google announces a real time search engine deal?
  • dave · 7 months ago
Ahh the realtime search engine would be fine, esp if I can ping it and if it accepts RSS in both directions. You know there's a really simple architecture in there (heh, sic) -- I wish someone would do it already. The engineers of Sliicon Valley are too busy reinventing stuff.

I just watched episode 4 of James Burke's Connections series, it's really great stuff. The guy who invented the Hollerith card, which was the first programming environment I worked in, chose to make the card the same size as the dollar bill at the time, because there was already a lot of machinery that worked with that size. That's the way good tech works, it builds on what we already know how to do, it doesn't try to undermine or replace it.
  • guruvan · 7 months ago
Well, wasn't too far off with the Google realtime search engine. It's google's realtime search-engine-fodder ;-)

    Wave looks very cool.

You should slap together an RSS plugin for Wave, Dave. That would be really cool.

And you're exactly right. Most of the internet that lasts and stands the test of time is built that way.

@johnbattelle: "Getting ready to cover the presumed Microsoft Bing announcement http://battellemedia.com/archives/004927.php"
  • dave · 7 months ago
Oh. Not expecting too much there. But then it won't be hard for them to exceed expectation.
  • protoiyer · 7 months ago
Sorry, the link should have been: http://battellemedia.com/archives/004927.php (without the double quotes at the end). My bad!

    GM Bankrupcy is my guess

A Yahoo / Microsoft announcement based on the D7 meetings?
  • shaynorulz · 7 months ago
I hope it's release date for the Crunch Pad? http://www.engadget.com/tag/crunch%20pad/
  • Bertil · 7 months ago
If it wasn't Arrington, I'd say something Apple-related—an early release of their tablet, to let people play with it, and bing! have a massive feature gallore in two weeks.

Google announcing something at I/O? http://friendfeed.com/scobleizer/2b93bbb0/vic-g...

I like Twitter. I like Disqus. I like this. Funny how that works...

    Google Wave http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10250742-2....

Pair that with Microsoft Bing, a big news day, at least as BigCos would define it

    Update: Whoops missed protoiyer's comment
  • andrewbaron · 7 months ago
No news outside of Techcrunch is worth this kind of tweet. Crunch pad. Last time we saw it, we saw packaging.....
  • andrewbaron · 7 months ago
Ok, seems to prob be Google and Yahoo. Hope the crunchpad will find a way to leverage the buzz around Apple's upcoming releases and come out right b4 then.
